  3. Do you run seminars in other locations?
All of our seminars are held at the Lancaster Host Hotel in Lancaster, PA

As a family business we have plenty to do just offering programs in Lancaster.  Besides, the Lancaster Host is the best facility we have found to hold our kind of seminars.  The conference room is spacious and tiered so everybody can see and be comfortable.  It also has excellent audio and video.  The Host Hotel has nearby restaurants and attractions and it has free parking.  The room rates are under $95 and nearby motels have rates as low as $50 per night.

Lancaster is also within a two-hour drive of four cities (Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Harrisburg).  We have looked in numerous states for sites and have found none better.

We appreciate that registrants would prefer us to host our programs closer to where they live.

  4. How do you select the speakers and topics?
Our goal is to invite the most highly qualified professionals who have exceptional credentials to present on topics that are of most interest to working mental health and other human service professionals.  These presenters are usually nationally known and have many published texts.

As a practicing doctoral level psychologist, Ken Ralph (the K of J&K), is aware of many topics and presenters that he would like to hear.  In addition, he receives suggestions from his colleagues, he sees the kinds of programs offered by other CE providers, and he is aware of new texts that are drawing attention.  He also receives suggestions from seminar participants and presenters.

From this base, Ken develops a survey of possible topics and speakers that he invites the registrants at each seminar to complete.  Results from these surveys indicate the topics and speakers that registrants most want to hear.  Ken attempts to get these speakers for upcoming programs.

If you would like us to consider contracting with you to present a two-day seminar, please mail or email us a short description of the topic you would like to present and your qualifications for presenting the program.

  5. How can prospective registrants know if the program will be too advanced, not advanced enough or just right?
The short answer: read the brochure carefully.

We do our best to describe the program in the brochure.  We have thought about identifying the program regarding the level (e.g. basic, intermediate, advanced), however, what is basic to some is advanced to others.  Our programs tend to have both basic and advanced elements.

Keep in mind that our programs are NOT small.  We expect 300 - 550 registrants to be attending each program.  While there is always some opportunity for questions from the audience, almost all of the time will involve the speaker's presentation.  There is not much opportunity for individual registrants to dialogue with the presenter.

  6. Do you provide a certificate of completion for attending a seminar?
Yes we do. Most state accredidation boards require certain processes to be in place in order for you to receive Continuing Eduction credits/hours. We have done all that we can to satisfy the varying board's requirements. As such, the following process is in place:

As an attendee, you are required to sign in at the beginning of each session. This allows us to keep track of who has attended in case there are future audits. If you are only attending the first day of our seminar, you will be able to pick up your printed certificate at the end of the last session on day one. For all others, you can pick up your printed certificate at the end of the last session on day two. The certificate serves as your official proof that you have attended our seminar. In order to make sure that your name appears correctly on the certificate, please make sure you specify in your seminar registration your name as you would like to see it on the certificate. Some boards require that the individual submit additional information about the seminar. Please use the brochure information, your registration packet information and all handouts that we provide at the seminar to satisfy this requirement.
