Suicide Prevention and Intervention
Treating suicidal clients is clinically difficult because suicidal behavior is complex and multidetermined. It is also emotionally difficult because so much is at stake. Effective prevention and treatment of suicidal clients includes a thorough assessment, lethal means counseling, and evidence informed interventions. The importance of empathy, active listening, clinical judgment, collaboration, and client preferences will be stressed.
