Seminar Description
Establishing a Safe and Productive Supervisory Relationship - Morning Session
This Webinar will identify and review many of the common problems and challenges of clinical supervision that occur in mental health and social services settings. We will examine the roles and responsibilities of the supervisor and supervisee along with techniques for defining the goals and objectives of supervision. The presenter will review and discuss common difficulties and specific problem situations that may occur during clinical supervision.
The speaker will also clarify the distinction between administrative supervision and clinical supervision, particularly where the potential for overlap or conflict exists. He will review specific supervisor competencies and the qualities and characteristics of effective supervision. He will also address difficulties with boundary violations that can occur between supervisor and supervisee.
Participants will have the opportunity to review a case study of a problematic supervisee and develop a sample remedial plan. The speaker will present concrete and specific strategies to assist supervisors in being proactive and preventing problems that frequently occur in supervision. This webinar is a must for any mental health and social service professionals who have clinical staff reporting to them.
Ethical and Legal Aspects of Clinical Supervision - Afternoon Session
Clinical supervisors are legally and ethically responsible for the actions of those they supervise. Acting as a clinical supervisor increases the risk of legal or ethical actions directed at the supervisor. This Webinar will provide participants with greater knowledge regarding their potential liability, a greater understanding of their ethical duties and responsibilities, and specific strategies to assist supervisors in being proactive in preventing many problems.
The speaker will review in detail the five major ethical issues in clinical supervision (Competence, Due Process, Informed Consent, Confidentiality, and Multiple/Dual Relationships). Most important, he will present eighteen specific and concrete ways to prevent supervisory issues.
